Add Razorpay to your Shopify store in India (2026)
What you’ll have at the end
Razorpay added to your Shopify store as a payment method, connected to your Razorpay account. Razorpay's docs say its Shopify app lets customers pay by UPI, cards, wallets and netbanking.
If your store is on a paid Shopify plan, you'll also have placed a test order with Razorpay's test mode, and turned test mode off so customers can pay. If your store is still on its free trial, this guide stops before choosing a paid plan, because that spends money.
Before you start
You’ll need
- A Shopify store, and a sign-in to its admin
- A Razorpay account that Razorpay has activated after checking your KYC details
- The Razorpay account owner's sign-in details
- A Shopify paid plan, if you'd like to place a test order or start selling
What it costs. Razorpay charges a platform fee on the payments you receive, shown on its pricing page, and GST on that fee still applies. Its offer terms describe a 90-day 0% platform fee offer for accounts activated on or after 1 July 2026, up to ₹5,00,000. Shopify needs a paid plan to sell.
Step 17 spends money. Each is marked, and whether to go ahead is your decision.
You need a Razorpay account that Razorpay has activated. Razorpay's account set-up page says you sign up at razorpay.com with Sign Up and submit KYC details, such as your PAN, bank account details, GSTIN if you have one, and your website link. Razorpay's team then reviews them, and Razorpay says it may contact you with questions. Razorpay's Shopify docs say it sends a confirmation on WhatsApp, SMS and email once you're able to accept payments. Please finish this first, then come back to this guide.
Razorpay's Shopify docs also ask that your website has been reviewed before you connect it. Razorpay's FAQ says an error appears if the website is still under review.
Please have the Razorpay account owner's sign-in details ready. Razorpay says only account owners can connect Razorpay to Shopify. Razorpay also says you don't need API keys for this.
Razorpay charges a platform fee on the payments you receive. Razorpay's pricing page shows the current rate, and its wording has changed recently, so please check it there. Razorpay's offer terms describe a "90-Day 0% Platform Fee Offer" for accounts that complete KYC and are activated on or after 1 July 2026. It covers up to ₹5,00,000 of transactions, doesn't cover some payments (such as American Express, Diners Club, corporate credit cards, prepaid cards and EMI), GST on platform fees still applies, and standard platform fees apply after it ends. The Shopify App Store lists Razorpay's app as "Free to install. Additional charges may apply."
Shopify's free trial help says you can set up a payment provider during the free trial, and that when you're ready to start selling, you need to select a paid plan. Shopify's test order help says you can test a payment gateway only after you've chosen a paid plan. So on a free trial, please follow steps 1 to 9, then go to step 17.
This guide uses the Shopify admin in a web browser on a computer.
Steps
1. Sign in to your Shopify admin
On a computer, sign in to your Shopify store's admin.
2. Go to Settings > Payments
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Payments.
3. Click Add payment methods
In the Additional payment methods section, click Add payment methods.
4. Search for Razorpay
Shopify lets you search by payment method or by provider. Please search by provider and type Razorpay.
5. Choose Razorpay's payments app and click Activate
Choose Razorpay's payments app for UPI, cards, wallets and netbanking from the results, then click Activate.
This app appears under different names. Razorpay's docs call it All-in-one Razorpay Payment Gateway, and say it was once called 1 Razorpay. The Shopify App Store lists it as Cards, UPI, Wallet by Razorpay. Razorpay also has other Shopify apps, such as ones for cash on delivery and checkout. This guide uses the payments app only.
6. Click Install app
Click Install app to install Razorpay's app on your store. Razorpay's docs call this button Install.
7. Click I am an existing user
Razorpay's page opens. Click I am an existing user.
8. Log in to Razorpay
Scroll down, enter the Razorpay account owner's sign-in details, and click Login. Razorpay says the connection works only with the owner's sign-in.
9. Click Activate
You're taken back to your Shopify admin. On the activation screen, click Activate. Razorpay is now added to your store's payment methods.
10. Open the Razorpay app in Payments
If your store is still on its free trial, please go to step 17 now. Shopify's test order help says you can test a payment gateway only after you've chosen a paid plan.
If your store is on a paid plan, go to Settings > Payments. In the Additional payment methods section, click the Razorpay app. Razorpay's test steps show it named 01. Razorpay UPI, Cards, Wallets.
11. Turn on Enable test mode and click Save
At the bottom of the page, select Enable test mode, then click Save. Razorpay says this lets you run a simulated payment, and no real money is taken.
12. Click Buy it now on your store
Open your online store, go to one of your products, and click Buy it now.
13. Click Continue to shipping
Fill in the contact and shipping details, then click Continue to shipping.
14. Choose Razorpay and click Complete order
Select All-in-one Razorpay Payment Gateway as the payment method, then click Complete order.
15. Pay with a Razorpay test card
On Razorpay's checkout screen, enter a phone number and click PROCEED. Razorpay says the email address is filled in for you, but the phone number has to be typed. Then pay with one of the test cards Razorpay lists for Indian payments on its integration steps page. Razorpay says no money is deducted, as this is a simulated transaction.
16. Turn off test mode and click Save
Go to Settings > Payments and click Manage on the Razorpay app. At the bottom of the page, clear Enable test mode, then click Save. Shopify's help says to turn off test mode after your test so live orders can come through again.
Your store can now take payments through Razorpay. If your store is on a paid plan, this guide ends here.
17. Stop before choosing a paid plan, if you're on a free trialSpends money
This step spends money. Whether to go ahead is your decision, and you’re welcome to stop here.
Shopify's free trial help says that after you choose a paid plan, your online store's checkout is activated. Shopify's plan help says this starts from Settings > Plan, where you click Choose plan or Select plan, select a plan and a billing cycle, review the charges, and click Subscribe. Shopify's help says you won't be charged until your free trial ends.
This guide stops here, and the decision is yours. Once you're on a paid plan, steps 10 to 16 show how to test Razorpay and go live.
If something looks different
- The Razorpay app's name differs between Shopify's screens, the Shopify App Store and Razorpay's docs. Please look for the one made by Razorpay for UPI, cards and wallets.
- Razorpay's go-live steps say to find the app in a Supported payment methods section. If you don't see Additional payment methods, please look there.
- Razorpay's docs for another of its Shopify apps show a country choice before I am an existing user. If you see one, please choose India.
- An older Razorpay page asks for a Key ID and Key Secret. Razorpay's current Shopify docs say API keys aren't needed.
- Razorpay's docs say its Shopify app works only with Shopify's standard web checkout.
- If you connected Razorpay to Shopify before 28 April 2022, Razorpay's docs ask you to upgrade to the current app to avoid payment failures.
