Your screen stays yours.
It looks when you ask. Never otherwise. Images of your screen are not stored by Alongrail while you are guided, and you can stop sharing at any time.

What Alongrail sees
You choose what to share in your browser’s own dialog: one tab, one window, or the whole screen. Alongrail sees only that, and only at the moment you ask for a step or press Check.
When a Desk team writes a help article from its own screen, Alongrail looks only when the team presses Capture step or That’s the last step.
In the on-your-own part of a course session, Alongrail also looks every couple of minutes to tick the checks quietly. The panel counts every look.
What is kept, and what isn’t
- Not kept
- Images of your screen while you are guided. Alongrail uses them to produce the next step and does not store them. The one exception is article writing in Desk, where a team keeps the screenshots it chooses for its own help articles, and can cover anything private before saving.
- Kept, about you
- Your name, your email address, and what you told us on your application — your screen size and your answers.
- Kept, about your work
- The goals and courses you started, the instructions you were given, your replies and questions, which checks passed and how many attempts they took, the notes and flags you sent us, the records you earned, and the browser, language, time zone and screen size of each session.
- Kept, about how you found us
- The link or ad you arrived from, the pages you visited, and, if you play one of our product videos, how far it played and whether on a computer or a phone or tablet. On our own pages that uses a random id kept only for that visit; nothing is stored on your device. Our analytics records visits and your IP address, sets nothing on your device, and never sees your goal, your email or your screen. If you arrive through the link in an email we sent you, the pages you open on alongrail.com in that tab are recorded against that email for 180 days; the link’s tag is held in the tab only and goes when you close it. On the pages we make for a company we’ve written to, your browser keeps a random id, so we can count how many different browsers opened the page or played its video, and whether each was a computer or a phone or tablet. It holds nothing personal and isn’t linked to you.
An instruction or a reply can mention something that was on your screen — a file name, an error message — because that is how guidance works. The screen image itself is not retained by Alongrail, except a screenshot a Desk team chooses to keep in its own help article.
Who holds it, and for how long
Your data is held in our database (Neon, with a short restore window of a few days), our AI provider (Anthropic, requests up to 30 days, never used for training), our email provider (Resend, logs 30 days, backups 7 days), our analytics (PostHog — visits, pages and IP address, no identity), and, if you buy tasks, our payment provider (Dodo, which keeps payment records as the law requires). Server logs at Vercel keep request records for 30 days and never contain screen content.
- Anthropic
- Reads what you share and writes each step. Requests held up to 30 days, not used for training. The only company that sees what you share while you are guided.
- Neon
- Our database: your account, your work, your records. Never an image of the screen you share in a course, a task or a guided session. The one exception: screenshots a Desk team chooses to keep in its own help articles; the team can cover anything private before saving.Restore window of a few days.
- Resend
- Sends your sign-in links and the course emails. Sees your email address and what the email says.Logs 30 days, backups 7 days.
- PostHog
- Counts visits and pages, with your IP address. Never your goal, your email or your screen.Sets nothing on your device.
- Dodo
- Takes the payment and keeps the payment record as the law requires. We never see card details.Only if you buy tasks.
- Vercel
- Runs the website. Nothing from the screen you share while you are guided passes into its logs; a help-article screenshot a Desk team keeps passes through it on the way to our database, and if the team shows that article on its own website, Vercel’s network keeps a copy for up to 10 minutes.Request logs, 30 days.
Who is responsible
Alongrail is operated by its founder, Ragul Srinivasan, from Chennai, India, who is the person responsible for your data and for any request about it. Write to hello@alongrail.com.
Your rights
You can read what is kept about you on your account page, change the name on your records there, turn off the emails that aren’t about your account, and delete everything. Anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, a question — goes to hello@alongrail.com and reaches a person.
What happens when you delete your account
Your account, your application, your progress and your records are deleted from Alongrail straight away. A published record stops working immediately.
Three things remain, and none can bring your account back: payment records, which the law requires us to keep; short-lived backups at our providers, which roll off on their own; and the anonymous course-review export, which carries no name or email.
How to stop
- Stop sharing — in the panel, or from your browser’s own bar. Alongrail can’t see anything more.
- End the session — sharing stops and the panel closes.
- Close the tab — the session ends with it.
Your mouse and keyboard stay yours throughout. Alongrail does not click, type or change anything on your computer.
