Stuck in some software? See your next step, right on your own screen.

You share a tab, a window or your screen, and Alongrail gives you one instruction at a time, based on what is actually there. You do every click yourself, so you stay in control, and you know how to do it next time.

Nothing to install: Alongrail works in Chrome or Edge on a computer.

A video shows someone else’s screen. Alongrail looks at yours.

A tutorial shows what someone else saw, on the day they recorded it. You pause, switch windows, hunt for the button they clicked, and switch back. Sometimes the button has moved since.

Alongrail looks at the software you’re using now, and tells you the next thing to do from what’s actually there. So your time goes on doing the job, not on hunting for the button.

How a session goes

  1. Say what you want to do. In Tasks you describe the job. In a course, the course already knows the project. In Desk, your customer opens a link to one task.
  2. Choose what to share. One tab, one window or the whole screen. You can stop sharing at any time.
  3. Get one step. A short instruction, in the words on your screen.
  4. Do it yourself. Then press “Done — what next” (in a Desk guided session, “I’ve done it”).
  5. Alongrail checks, and gives the next step. Until the job is done.

If a step doesn’t match what you see, you can say so, and Alongrail looks again.

You stay in control

  • Alongrail never clicks, types or changes anything. Every action is yours, which is why you can do it again later.
  • You choose what it sees. One tab, one window or the whole screen, and you can stop at any time.
  • No pictures of your screen are kept while you’re guided.
  • Nothing to install. It runs in Chrome or Edge on a computer.

Which one is for you?

Alongrail Tasks: when you need something done today.

Get it done today, yourself, without bringing someone in for a short job. You tell Alongrail the job in a sentence, for example “connect my domain to my website”, and it guides you through until it’s finished. Your first 2 tasks are free, and they last 10 days. After that, 25 tasks cost $20, and they never expire. If you’d rather read first, there are free step-by-step guides to everyday software tasks.

Alongrail Learning: when you want to be able to do it on your own.

Each course is a real project, built inside the software over several sessions. In each session you build it with guidance first, then again on different data on your own. Courses are free, with no card. By the end you can use the software at work, and you have a project you built yourself.

Alongrail Desk: for companies whose customers use their software or dashboard.

Fewer “how do I…?” questions reach your team, and your customers get help at any hour. You do a task once in your product, and Desk writes the help article with a screenshot of every step. You can turn any help article into a link that walks a customer through the task on their own screen. Free for 14 days, no card.
