When sharing doesn’t start

What the session page says when your screen can’t be shared, and what usually helps.

Use Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop

Course sessions need Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop. Safari can’t run the floating panel, and phones and tablets have no screen to share. The panel also needs version 116 or newer.

On a Mac

macOS asks once for screen-recording permission. If your shared screen comes through black, open System Settings → Privacy and Security → Screen Recording, switch on Chrome, then quit Chrome completely and reopen it.

Blocked on a work computer

If no picker appears at all, your browser or your workplace may be blocking screen sharing. A personal computer usually works.

Shared the wrong thing

If you shared a tab or a single window, the session says so. Share again and choose Entire screen.
