Add your Facebook Page and ad account to a Meta business portfolio (2026)

4 min read

What you’ll have at the end

Your Facebook Page and your ad account both added to your Meta business portfolio. Meta says that when you add a Page to a portfolio, your business owns that Page, and that once an ad account is in a portfolio, you give people access to it through the portfolio.

Before you start

You’ll need

  • A Meta business portfolio you have full control of
  • Your business's Facebook Page, not already in another business portfolio
  • Your ad account's ID number, from Meta Ads Manager

What it costs. Meta Business Suite is free, Meta says. Adding a Page or ad account to a portfolio has no charge listed on Meta's help.

You need full control of the business portfolio. Meta says you can't add a Page or ad account that is already in another business portfolio.

Step 14 can't be undone; please read its warning before you start it. If the ad account is a prepaid account, Meta says it can't have any prepaid balance when you add it.

If your Page is linked to an Instagram account, Meta suggests adding the Instagram account to your portfolio too. That isn't covered here.

Steps

  1. 1. Open Meta Ads Manager

Open Meta Ads Manager in a browser on a computer and sign in.

  2. 2. Note your ad account ID

At the top of the page, the business asset drop-down menu shows your ad account's name and ID number. Please write the ID number down or copy it. Meta says you can also find it in your browser's address bar.

  3. 3. Open Meta Business Suite

Go to business.facebook.com and open your business portfolio.

  4. 4. Go to Settings

    Click Settings.

  5. 5. Click Pages

    Under Accounts, click Pages.

  6. 6. Click + Add

    Click + Add.

  7. 7. Choose Add an existing Facebook Page

Select Add an existing Facebook Page from the drop-down menu.

  8. 8. Enter your Page

Enter your Facebook Page's name or its URL.

  9. 9. Click Next

    Click Next.

  10. 10. Agree to the terms

Review the request and the terms of agreement, and tick the box to agree.

  11. 11. Click Add Page

    Click Add Page.

  12. 12. Click Done

Click Done. Meta says people who could manage the Page before can still do so.

  13. 13. Open Ad accounts

In the left-hand menu, under Accounts, click Ad accounts.

  14. 14. Choose Add an ad account (can't be undone)

Meta says adding an existing ad account to a portfolio may permanently move it there, so it can't be deleted or moved to another portfolio later.

Click the + Add drop-down menu and select Add an ad account.

  15. 15. Enter the ad account ID

Enter the ad account ID you noted in step 2.

  16. 16. Confirm and agree

Confirm that you want to claim the account and add it to the business portfolio shown. Tick the box that says you agree to Meta's Terms of Service and Advertising Standards on behalf of your business portfolio.

  17. 17. Click Claim ad account

Click Claim ad account. Meta says that if you own the ad account, no approval is needed. This guide ends here.

If something looks different

  • If someone else owns the ad account, Meta says they must approve your request before you can use it.
  • If the Page or ad account is in another business portfolio, Meta suggests requesting access instead. In step 7, the drop-down also offers Request shared access to a Facebook Page.
  • If you can't add the ad account, Meta says you may have reached your portfolio's ad account limit, which rises with advertising spend.
  • Meta is moving people to Meta Accounts, so your account settings may be under Accounts Centre or Meta Account settings.
