Reply to reviews on your Google Business Profile (2026)

4 min read

What you’ll have at the end

A reply to one customer review, written and sent from your Google Business Profile. Google checks each reply before it appears. Once it's approved, Google says your reply is publicly posted under the customer's review. It appears as a reply from your business, and your personal name isn't shown. Google says the person who wrote the review is notified when you reply.

Before you start

You’ll need

  • A verified Google Business Profile
  • The Google Account associated with that profile
  • A computer

What it costs. Google says you can add or claim your business at no charge. Google's reviews help doesn't mention any charge for replying.

This guide is for a profile that's already verified. Google's reviews help says you must verify your business before you can reply to reviews. If your profile isn't verified yet, please verify it first.

Please sign in with the Google Account associated with your profile. Google says you need to be signed in to that account to find your profile.

Please read Google's tips before you write your reply. Google's tips to write better review replies ask you to be professional and polite, keep replies short and simple, be conversational rather than promotional, never share a reviewer's private information or make personal attacks, and be honest about any mistakes without taking responsibility for things outside your control.

Google also says it reviews replies to make sure they follow Google's content policies.

Steps

  1. 1. Sign in to your Google Account

On a computer, sign in to the Google Account associated with your Business Profile.

  2. 2. Go to your Business Profile

Go to business.google.com. You can also search Google for the words my business, or for your business's name and city.

  3. 3. Select Read reviews

On your profile, select Read reviews.

  4. 4. Select Reply next to the review

Find the review you'd like to answer. Next to it, select Reply. A dialog box opens.

  5. 5. Write your reply

In the dialog box, please type your reply. Please keep to Google's tips above, and don't include the reviewer's private information.

  6. 6. Select Reply

Select Reply to send it. Google then checks your reply before it appears. Google's reviews help says: "Replies usually take up to 10 minutes to review, but sometimes a review can take up to 30 days." This guide ends here, at the wait.

If something looks different

  • If you can't find your profile at step 2, please check you're signed in to the Google Account associated with it.
  • If you can't reply to a review, please check your profile is verified. Google says you must verify your business before you can reply to reviews.
  • To change a reply you've posted, go to your profile, select Read reviews, and under your reply select Edit. Edit your reply in the dialog box, then select Update.
  • To remove a reply, go to your profile, select Read reviews, and under your reply select Delete, then Delete again.
  • Google says customers can still change their review after reading your reply. If they do, the date on their review changes to show the latest update.
  • If you believe a review breaks Google's content policies, you can report it instead of, or as well as, replying. Select Read reviews, then next to the review select Report. Select the reason, then select Send report. Google's help on reporting reviews says only reviews that violate Google policies are eligible for removal, asks you not to report a review just because you disagree with it or dislike it, and says review evaluation typically takes several days.
