Link Google Ads and Google Analytics (2026)
What you’ll have at the end
Your Google Analytics property linked to your Google Ads account. Google says linking helps you see how much of your website traffic or business comes from Google Ads. The guide ends while you wait for Google Ads data to appear in your Analytics reports.
Before you start
You’ll need
- A Google Analytics property for your website
- The Editor role or above on that Google Analytics property
- A Google Ads account, with admin access for the same Google Account
What it costs. Google describes standard Google Analytics 4 properties as the free version. Google's linking help lists no charge for creating the link.
You need a Google Analytics property for your website and a Google Ads account. If you don't have them yet, please set up Google Analytics on your website, or create your Google Ads account, first.
Google's help says that to create the link: - In Google Analytics, you need the Editor role or above on the property. - In Google Ads, the Google Account needs admin access.
Please sign in with the one Google Account that has both. If you don't have admin access in Google Ads, there's a way to send a request instead, under "If something looks different".
These steps start from Google Analytics, as Google's Analytics help describes. Please use a computer.
Steps
1. Open Google Analytics
On a computer, go to analytics.google.com and sign in. If you have more than one property, please select the property for your website.
2. Click Admin
Click Admin.
3. Under Product links, click Google Ads links
Under Product links, click Google Ads links.
4. Click Link
Click Link.
5. Click Choose Google Ads accounts
Click Choose Google Ads accounts. Google's help says this option is for Google Ads accounts where you have the Admin role.
6. Select your Google Ads account
Select the Google Ads account you'd like to link.
7. Click Confirm
Click Confirm.
8. Click Next
Click Next.
9. Leave or change Enable Personalized Advertising
Google's help says Enable Personalized Advertising is on by default. You can leave it as it is, or turn it off. Google says you can change this setting later by editing the link.
10. Expand Enable Auto-Tagging
Expand Enable Auto-Tagging. Then choose to turn on auto-tagging, or leave your auto-tagging settings as they are. Google's help for Google Ads lists auto-tagging in the Google Ads account among the things you need for the link, and says auto-tagging is on by default for new accounts.
11. Click Next
Click Next. Please review your settings, and check that the Google Ads account shown is the one you chose.
12. Click Submit
Click Submit to link your accounts with these settings.
Google's linking help says Google Ads data will be in your Google Analytics reports within 48 hours. This guide ends here, at the wait.
If something looks different
- If you can't see Google Ads links, Google's help says you need the Editor role or above on the property. Please ask whoever manages the property.
- If you don't have the Admin role in Google Ads, Google's help says to click Send request in the row for requesting access to other Google Ads accounts, enter the Google Ads account IDs, and click Confirm. This lets the account's admins know.
- If you link a Google Ads manager account, Google says any data you import from Analytics is available to all of its client accounts, and turning on auto-tagging affects all the Google Ads accounts directly linked to it.
- To use your Analytics key events in Google Ads, Google's help describes creating Google Ads conversions from them in Google Ads. That's its own task. Google's help for Google Ads says it needs the accounts linked, auto-tagging on, at least the Marketer role in Google Analytics and admin access to the Google Ads account.
- For remarketing, Google's help says Google signals or user-provided data collection must be turned on for the property.
- You can also start the link from Google Ads, under Data manager. Google's help for Google Ads describes those steps; its screens differ from these.
- To unlink later, Google says either a Google Ads admin or an Analytics user with the Editor role can do it. In the list of linked accounts, click the arrow at the end of the link's row to open it.
