Connect Google Analytics to Search Console (2026)

4 min read

What you’ll have at the end

Your Google Analytics web data stream linked to your website's Search Console property, and the Search Console reports published in Analytics so they show in the left menu. Google says these reports show the search queries that lead people to your site, and which landing pages they arrive on. The guide ends while you wait for the first Search Console data to show in Analytics.

Before you start

You’ll need

  • A Google Analytics property with a web data stream for your website
  • The Editor role (or above) on that Google Analytics property
  • Your website verified in Google Search Console, with you as a verified owner

What it costs. Google says Search Console is a free service, and describes standard Google Analytics 4 properties as the free version.

You need two things set up already: a Google Analytics property with a web data stream for your website, and your website verified in Google Search Console. If you haven't done these yet, please follow the guides to set up Google Analytics and to verify your website in Search Console first.

Google's help says that to create the link you need: - The Editor role on the Google Analytics property. - To be a verified owner of the Search Console property.

Please sign in with the one Google Account that has both.

Google also asks that your Analytics property and your Search Console property collect data for the same set of web pages.

Please note that, once the two are linked, Google says anybody with access to your Google Analytics property may be able to see Search Console data for your site.

Steps

  1. 1. Open Google Analytics

On a computer, go to analytics.google.com and sign in. If you have more than one property, please select the property for your website.

  2. 2. Click Admin

    Click Admin.

  3. 3. Click Search Console Links

Under Product links, click Search Console Links.

  4. 4. Click Link

In the link table, click Link.

  5. 5. Click Choose accounts

In the row for Link to Search Console properties I manage, click Choose accounts.

  6. 6. Select your Search Console property

Select the Search Console property for your website.

  7. 7. Click Confirm

    Click Confirm.

  8. 8. Click Next

    Click Next.

  9. 9. Select your web data stream

Select the web data stream for your website.

  10. 10. Click Next

    Click Next.

  11. 11. Review and submit

Please check that the Search Console property and the web data stream are the ones for your website, then submit your settings. Google says you can't edit a link later, only delete it and create a new one.

  12. 12. Click Library

Google says the Search Console reports are unpublished by default, so they don't show in the left menu yet. In the left navigation, click Library. Google's help says it's at the bottom of the left navigation.

  13. 13. Click More on the Search Console collection

Find the Search Console collection card and click More on it. Google's help says More is shown as an icon.

  14. 14. Click Publish

    Click Publish.

  15. 15. Open the Queries report

From the left menu, select Reports, then click Search Console, then Queries.

Google's Search Console linking help says Search Console data is available in Analytics 48 hours after Search Console collects it. It also says data is available from when you verified your site, or from when you created your web data stream if that came later. This guide ends here, at the wait.

If something looks different

  • If you don't see Search Console Links, or you can't open Library, Google's help says you need the Editor role or above on the property.
  • If your website isn't listed at step 6, please check that you're signed in with the Google Account that is a verified owner in Search Console. Google's help says you can also verify ownership during the linking process.
  • Google says a web data stream can be linked to only one Search Console property, and a Search Console property to only one web data stream. If a link already exists and you'd like to change it, Google says to delete it and create a new one.
  • You can also start the link from Search Console instead. Google's help says to open the associations page for your Search Console property, click Associate and follow the instructions. Its screens differ from these steps.
  • The Search Console collection also has a second report, on Google organic search traffic. Google says it shows the landing pages people arrive on, with Search Console and Analytics metrics.
